Why buyers look past Semrush
Semrush's tools are well regarded, but its billing is not. In our pull of its 50 most recent Trustpilot reviews, 48 were unprompted and averaged 1.4, almost all about charges after a free trial or cancellation and refused refunds. Its refund policy allows none on monthly plans. Its G2 reviews from the same period are far kinder, averaging 4.22 across 50.
“when I attempted to cancel my subscription I got the royal runaround.”Jim, Trustpilot, Sep 2026
“It’s dark patterns around cancelling and how unresponsive and unhelpful support is when you need help”Devon T., G2, Aug 2026

The 5 best Semrush alternatives
AirOps
Best for turning research into contentIf you used Semrush to find what to write and then wrote it by hand, AirOps automates the second half: workflows that brief, draft, refresh, and publish, with human review. It connects to SEO data tools rather than replacing them, so it works with Semrush or Ahrefs data. Rated 4.7 out of 5 on G2 from 134 reviews; its 14-day trial needs no payment details, though prices aren't published.

When to stay with Semrush
Stay if you rely on its keyword, backlink, and competitor data: none of the content tools here replace it, and AirOps is designed to sit on top of tools like it. Turn off auto-renewal and note your renewal date. If content production is your bottleneck, add AirOps alongside it.
