AirOps vs n8n: a content and AI search platform vs a general automation tool

By Jean Luc Poitier, SEO and growth marketing strategist · AirOps Reviews · Updated October 5, 2026

Quick verdict

n8n is a general workflow automation tool: visual flows plus code, AI agent nodes, 500+ integrations, and a free self-hosted edition. You can build SEO and content pipelines in it, but you bring the SEO data, brand rules, and prompts yourself. AirOps is built for content and AI search specifically, with Brand Kits, SEO data integrations, content scoring, and visibility tracking included.

Pick n8n if you have technical people, want the lowest cost, or need to self-host. Pick AirOps if marketers will run the workflows themselves and you want content-specific tooling ready to use.

Purpose-built vs build-it-yourself

Everything AirOps does for content can in principle be built in n8n, which has AI agents, LLM choice, CMS nodes, and human approval steps. The difference is what you start with. AirOps includes SEO and AEO data connections, Brand Kits, Knowledge Bases, content scores, and AI search insights; in n8n you assemble those from APIs and prompts and maintain them.

Cost

n8n's Community edition is free to self-host, and its cloud plans start at €20 a month on annual billing, metered by executions with unlimited users. AirOps doesn't publish prices, and its reviewers often call it expensive. One Reddit user who found AirOps' setup hard moved to n8n for cost, with help from a technical teammate.

Who runs it

n8n targets technical teams and developers. AirOps is aimed at marketers, though about a third of its G2 reviewers still describe a steep learning curve, so neither is effortless.

Where n8n wins

  • Free self-hosted edition and far lower published cloud prices
  • Unlimited users on every plan
  • General-purpose: 500+ integrations for work beyond content
  • Code nodes and self-hosting for full control over data and logic
